Step 1: Get Connected �?Internet First (15-30 min)

- Look for China Mobile (中国移动), China Unicom (中国联�?, or China Telecom (中国电信) kiosks
- Bring your passport �?required for registration (real-name policy)
- Recommended: China Unicom �?best for tourists, has English support ⚠️ Important:
- Your phone MUST be unlocked to use a Chinese SIM
- SIM registration takes 10-30 minutes (they need to verify your passport)
- If you can't get a SIM at the airport, convenience stores (7-Eleven, FamilyMart) sometimes sell them
- eSIM is much easier �?no store visit, no passport verification, activate instantly
- Open Alipay �?tap "Me" �?"Add a card"
- Select your foreign Visa/Mastercard
- Enter card details + billing address
- Verify with your bank (SMS code)
- Done! You can now pay at millions of merchants The "Tour Card" feature: Alipay now has a Tour Card that links your foreign card directly. Look for "Tour Card" on the home screen.
- Open WeChat �?"Me" �?"Wallet" �?"Add Card"
- WeChat now accepts foreign Visa/Mastercard

- Use DiDi (inside Alipay or standalone app) to book a ride
- Show the driver your hotel address in Chinese characters
- Or use the metro (cheaper, but navigating with luggage is tough)
Step 2: Connect to Payment (30 min)

Chinese convenience stores are AMAZING. Here's what you can get:

Pro tip: Look for restaurants with lots of locals eating. If it's full of Chinese people, the food is good and cheap. If it's empty, there's probably a reason.Common First-Day Problems & Solutions

This is VERY common in China. Always carry:
